Wouldn’t it be ideal if you could live closer to work in the city but still be able to live in a family-sized home with plenty of space?
Well you can and there’s a choice of not one but two of our developments both within walking distance of Wakefield city centre.
St John’s Mews, off College Grove Road and City Fields on Neil Fox Way has a range of three and four-bedroom properties that all have large open-plan, flexible living spaces, private gardens and are more energy efficient than older properties, meaning monthly bills could be slashed.
Steve Jackson, sales director at for Yorkshire said: “Post-lockdown, buyer priorities have changed meaning what we want from our homes now includes things like the amount of outside space. In a recent survey we conducted, 44% of respondents said that this was a big priority in a next home. Luckily, both developments offer homes with private gardens and plenty of open space on the developments, ideal for that morning walk before work.”
In the same survey, 39% of respondents said that having a large kitchen with plenty of room to make dinner was important and energy efficiency of homes was the third most crucial factor.
“On average, a brand-new home is 40% more energy efficient than a 10-year-old home and 70% more efficient than one built pre-1990*. This becomes even more important as we spend more time at home,” Steve adds.
Richard Parker, branch manager and valuer for Bridgfords Wakefield says Wakefield is one of the most up-and-coming areas. It’s close to Leeds but far more affordable which is increasingly in its favour but there’s much more even than that to send homebuyers heading in its direction: “There’s been a lot of investment in Wakefield with the new Snowhill Retail Park adding to Trinity Shopping Centre, and the city has a buoyant nightlife with lots of bars, clubs and restaurants.
“Redrow’s St John’s Mews and City Fields are two prime property developments. St John’s Mews is in one of the prestigious areas of the city, with some of the best schools around. It’s in walking distance of the city centre and the brand-new train station from which you can go to Leeds and Huddersfield. And it’s got great motorway connections – you could probably drive to Leeds quicker from Wakefield than you could from other Leeds areas like Horsforth.
“City Fields has many of the same advantages as St John’s Mews while being a little more rural, closer to the canal with all the lovely walks that that offers, yet still near Pinderfields Hospital, making it ideal for hospital staff especially first-time buyers.”
St John’s Mews boasts a range of three and four-bedroom townhouses with spacious accommodation laid out over three floors, meaning buyers can make the space their own. They have the option of turning an unused bedroom into a home gym or a playroom if needed.
Prices start at £246,950 for a three-bedroom Brunswick, a home that will appeal equally to young couples or anyone who may be looking at downsizing to free up some money from a larger family home. Top price is the Montpellier semi, at £314,950, which has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a fabulous open plan kitchen/dining room overlooking the garden.
City Fields is located close to Pinderfields Hospital and also has a range of three and four-bedroom homes available. Homes start at £238,950 for a Malvern semi and go up to £382,950 for a four-bed detached Shaftesbury.
There are also plans for a new district hub at City Fields by DeVeer Estates, set to include a supermarket, health centre, family pub, gym, children’s nursery and small shops so there is every possible ingredient for a thriving community.
Both developments offer buyers with an existing property the use of our own Help to Sell incentive, which is designed to find a buyer quickly and with the minimum of fuss, while contributing to selling fees.
