Their first home apartment was only ever meant to be a stepping-stone onto the property ladder, but Paj and Chloe rapidly realised it was time to make a move during lockdown.
Small rooms with little space and, crucially, no outdoor area, hastened the couple’s desire for a house with a garden for them and their four-year-old son, Koby.
And now home is a three-bedroom semi-detached Yeadon on The Point development at Thorpe Park in Leeds.
“And it’s great,” says Paj, 34, a network engineer. “We love our home because it’s modern and open plan, we’ve got plenty of space and Koby has got a climbing frame in the garden - so he loves it here too.
“We can’t wait to get the garden finished now so we can look forward to having everyone over this summer.”
Paj and Chloe, 33, a community matron, first moved into a rented property after meeting 15 years ago.
“We bought the apartment in East Ardsley in Wakefield off-plan so that we could get onto the ladder of ownership, because we knew renting was just dead money,” said Paj.
“We’d been in the apartment for five years when the pandemic hit, so that made us realise very quickly we had outgrown it, and that we really needed more room and an outdoor area for us and our little boy.”
The couple were aware of The Point and due to its proximity to the M1 and the M62, knew it would be a perfect commute for Chloe’s work.
Add to that the contemporary house styles – and the couple were sold!
“We really liked the modern look of the homes with the white rendering and grey windows, it was such a clean look, and we didn’t want traditional,” said Paj.
“Inside we loved the open plan and the kitchen and dining area that’s big enough to fit a six-seater table and chairs, and the patio doors that go straight into the garden, it’s great for entertaining.
“Upstairs there are three big bedrooms - ours has got an en-suite and Koby has the second bedroom. The third can be a bedroom if we have another child and, until then we plan to turn it into an office,” he added.
“Redrow were amazing, because the house wasn’t due to be ready until the middle of July, but they did everything so that we could move in at the end of June and take advantage of the stamp duty holiday which was about to end,” said Paj.
“We also used Redrow’s Help to Sell scheme and that made things so much easier too.”
Through Help to Sell we arrange valuations with our estate agent partners and create a marketing plan to encourage a quick sale; we even contribute to fees.
“We used the recommended solicitors and it made everything quicker and took a lot of the effort out of it for us,” said Paj.
“If we ever moved again we wouldn’t consider buying from anyone other than Redrow.”
The Yeadon home is sold out at Thorpe Park, but there are still other stunning styles currently available, including the Oakwood, a spacious four-bedroom townhouse priced from £359,950.
It boasts a fabulous open plan kitchen, dining and family room on the ground floor with patio doors onto the garden, while the first-floor lounge offers a private and relaxing space.
The main bedroom and en-suite can also be found on this level, with three further bedrooms (including a second with en-suite) and the main bathroom on the top floor.
The Point is one half of our successful Thorpe Park venture which offers proximity to shops, leisure amenities like a 24-hour gym and a multi-screen cinema, as well as 113 acres of green space, cycleways, woodland and wetlands areas, at the newly-created Green Park.
