Proposals for the site include a wide variety of one, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, including 30% much-needed affordable homes, and all the amenities of a village including a primary school, sports pitches and a shop, located around tree-lined avenues.
True to the original garden village concept outlined by Sir Ebenezer Howard, who believed people should live directly alongside nature, the garden village will also have a brand-new country park and green spaces.
We will look to submit a reserved matters planning application in 2023, which will include a detailed phasing plan to show how the scheme and major infrastructure will be delivered.

Redrow has several major garden village developments underway across the country, including the outstanding example at Woodford Garden Village in Cheshire, which has been created in line with our placemaking principles.
“Our garden villages combine a wide range of meticulously designed, quality homes with opportunities for leisure, recreation and play and our development in York will be no different. It will be a highly desirable place to live.”
Our homes will also be among the most sustainable designs available from a volume housebuilder, with the developer taking a fabric first approach to energy efficiency. It is planning highly insulated homes that retain heat and feature technology to reduce customers’ energy use.
The modern-day interpretation of a traditional garden village will be developed in phases and is expected to take around 10 years.
