We’ve handed over the second portion of £30,000 donation to Martin House Children’s Hospice, based on the number of private homes we sold and some other fundraising events.
We gave £20,000 to the Wetherby-based hospice this week, following an earlier donation of £10,000.
The money will help pay for some of the care and support that Martin House delivers to babies, children and young people with life-limiting illnesses – and support for their families – across the Yorkshire region.
Every year Martin House cares for more than 420 children and their families, as well as around 150 bereaved families, at its hospice, in hospitals and in the community. It is open 24/7, 365 days a year, whenever families need help and support. Yearly running costs total almost £9 million per year and support from businesses like ours is vital.
Vicki Greensmith, director of clinical services at Martin House, said: “We’re so grateful to Redrow for their continued commitment to Martin House, which has made such a difference to the babies, children and young people who receive our care.
“Our specialist care gives children with life-limiting conditions, and their families’, vital support and time to make precious memories together, which is only possible due to supporters like Redrow.”
Yorkshire division managing director John Handley said: “Having had a relationship with the hospice for a number of years, we were sad to hear that the hospice expected to lose almost a third of its fundraised income, due to cancelled events, closed shops and community and business activity stalling. We wanted to help.
“During our time supporting the hospice, we have previously raised over £86,500 through a combination of company events, charity balls and golf days, dress down days, plus individual fund raising and sporting endeavours by our staff. This time we decided to take a more direct approach and specifically link our support to the number of private homes sold.
“This latest donation means we have now supported Martin House to the tune of £114,200 and we hope that this will support the invaluable work of the team at Martin House.”
Based in Wakefield, our Yorkshire division has new homes developments across North, West and East Yorkshire. See www.redrow.co.uk/yorkshire for details of where they are currently building.
