As Yorkshire Day (August 1) celebrations get underway one couple share their reasons for choosing the historic and beautiful county for their next home.
For Stephen and Siobhan Peacock, when it came to selling up and starting their next chapter together, the rural surroundings of North Yorkshire was their ideal location of choice.
After living on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre for a number of years, the couple decided it was time to fulfil their life-long ambition of moving 200 miles south to the Yorkshire countryside so they could enjoy all that the region has to offer.
“It had been on our wish list for years but our careers were pretty settled. I worked as an engineer at ScottishPower and Siobhan worked in the dietetic department for the NHS so we had to put the move on the backburner,” said the couple.
But when the time was finally right, they found their dream home in the quaint village of Green Hammerton.
“It was perfectly located so we could enjoy the countryside lifestyle, with its pubs and walking trails, while still having good access to places such as York and Harrogate,” says Stephen.
Stephen and Siobhan fell in love with our Churchfields development due to its design and thought it was a very attractive new-build development compared to others they’d seen.
“The way it’s presented really appealed to us. The houses have plenty of space around them and they’re not all crammed in like you see on some newer developments,” adds Stephen.
They chose to buy a four-bedroom detached Bramham that includes a spacious kitchen and dining area overlooking the garden plus a separate lounge and study and four double bedrooms.
Stephen adds: “The Bramham was the best option for us as it gives us plenty of space to cater for family and friends who often visit.”
Making a move from such a distance away was a big decision and the couple have said that they were helped and supported along the way by the sales team at Churchfields.
The development they chose is now sold out but we have plenty of other new homes to choose from across North, West and East Yorkshire.
“We’ve got everything from traditional Yorkshire stone properties in village locations like Thongsbridge, near Holmfirth, to the contemporary apartments and townhouses we’re building at Thorpe Park, Leeds – and lots in between,” says Steve Jackson, our Yorkshire sales director.
This Saturday it’s #YorkshireDay, a day to celebrate all the traditions and customs that the region is known for. Anyone currently searching for their ideal home can visit www.redrow.co.uk/yorkshire to find out where Redrow is building.
