Laura and Matthew Day and their toddler Rhys are enjoying a host of benefits after moving into their new home at our Poppy Fields development located off Moor Lane South in Bramley.
“We’re close to Sheffield and Rotherham, and the M18 and M1, which makes it accessible and gives me choices as I go on in my career,” said Laura, 33, a doctor at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.
“But it also feels quite rural, we’re next to a farm, there’s lots of green areas, and there’s a country park five minutes up the road which is lovely. As a student, being in the city is good, but as a family, you want the best of both worlds – and that’s what we’ve got.”
Laura and Matthew, 29, who works for Marston’s Brewery, moved to Poppy Fields at the end of June, from their former home in Mansfield.
“At this stage in our lives we wouldn’t want to live anywhere that needed renovating, but somewhere that’s got the guarantees of the builder for a couple of years and then the NHBC for 10 years, so there are no nasty surprises,” said Laura.
“That gives you security and takes the pressure off while you’re a young family trying to save and get something behind you.”
Laura and Matthew chose The Henley a detached property, which boasts an open plan kitchen / dining / family area, a separate utility, cloakroom and spacious lounge and integrated double garage. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two with their own en-suites and a family bathroom.
“We looked at lots of developments, but we chose Redrow because of the space with larger rooms and higher ceilings, as well as deep skirting boards, and bigger doors,” said Laura.
“The kitchen, dining and family area spans the width of the rear which we love and practically live in.
“There are two ensuites, one to the main bedroom and one to the second bedroom which is really good when my mum is staying over because she had her own space.” Laura adds: “It’s a beautiful house, everything we wanted it to be, and we are so happy with it.”
The couple, who are keen gardeners have already started to create their dream garden, with plans to create a further patio area as well as building a green house. “We’ve grown carrots and spring onions this year but next year it would be nice to grow more, and we can because we’ve got the space,” said Laura.
“Rhys loves playing outside and helping us in the garden, and grandma and grandad have just bought him his own little tool set because he loves to ‘help’ us when we’re putting our pictures up and doing work in the house!”
Poppy Fields is in the village of Bramley, about four miles east of Rotherham, between Ravenfield and Wickersley, with a great range of primary schools, local amenities, shops, parks and woodland walks nearby.
