A Huddersfield site manager is celebrating after winning an award for his work on a development in Scissett.
Simon Longley, from Huddersfield, was awarded a coveted ‘Seal of Excellence’ from the National House-Building Council (NHBC) at the highly respected Pride in the Job Awards.
The Pride in the Job Awards celebrate the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality.
Pride in the Job, first launched over 40 years ago, is the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry.
Earlier this year, Simon, 52, won his seventh NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Awards, reserved for just the top 450 site managers in the country, chosen from a field of 11,000. He then went on to compete for the Seal of Excellence and was one of just 94 people to be given the coveted accolade nationwide.
This is the first Seal of Excellence won by Simon for his work at Redrow’s Langley Grange in Scissett.
“It feels like winning gold at the Olympics. I’ve been striving for this award for years, so it means a lot,” said Simon, who has worked for Redrow for the past eight years.
“I attended the awards ceremony, which was a great night, but even better to have come away from it with this award.
“I’d like to thank all the team at Redrow. This award is down to teamwork and continuing to work to the highest standards.”
Simon, a father to twins Connor and Macy, also thanked his wife Kirsty for her continued support.
Wayne Morris, construction director for Redrow’s Yorkshire division, said: “I’m delighted that Simon has finally won a Seal of Excellence award. He has been so close to winning over the years.
“Simon has achieved this recognition due to his hard work and commitment. He shows 100% dedication to his site and customers and is a real credit to the team here at Redrow Yorkshire.”
Steve Wood, NHBC chief executive said: “For more than 40 years Pride in the Job has been an important part of our work to help drive construction quality. Winning site managers tell us that it inspires them to give a little extra and to strive harder for ever-higher standards of house building.
“At NHBC we believe that the calibre of the site manager and the way they inspire their site team has the greatest influence on the quality of the finished home. By promoting friendly rivalry, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence, Pride in the Job supports the delivery of homes of the highest quality.
“Congratulations to all the 2022 Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence and Regional Award winners. They are an inspiration to us all and should be very proud of the quality of new homes they are creating.
The national Supreme Award winners will be unveiled in January 2023.
