Teammates from Yorkshire have seen their fundraising total climb to over £6,500 for Martin House Children’s Hospice after taking on a mountaineering challenge.
Nine members of our Yorkshire division took part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, walking 25 miles in just under nine hours and scaling the mountains of Whernside (2,415 ft), Ingleborough (2,372 ft) and Pen-y-ghent (2,277 ft).
Part of The Pennines range, the ‘Three Peaks’ surround the valley of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The team - made up of Damien Hunt, Mark Atkinson, Jonny Leivesley, Luke Davies, Steve Jackson, Bill Parker, Ian Pattison, Jake Morrish and James Johnson - are raising much needed funds for the division’s chosen charity – Martin House.
“It was a challenge but a fantastic day,” said Jonny Leivesley, marketing coordinator for Yorkshire.
“We have already raised an amazing amount of money, thanks to our colleagues and contractors who have sponsored us. The charity, like many others has been hugely affected by the pandemic so we want to raise as much money as we can for them.”
Our Yorkshire division is headquartered in Wakefield and is currently building at several locations in Leeds, Huddersfield and Harrogate, with new sites coming soon in West Ardsley, near Leeds, and Ravenfield, Rotherham.
Every year Martin House cares for more than 420 children and their families, as well as around 150 bereaved families, at its hospice, in hospitals and in the community. It is open 24/7, 365 days a year, whenever families need help and support. Yearly running costs total almost £9 million and support from businesses like Redrow Yorkshire and CRS is vital.
Martin House is the adopted charity for us Yorkshire, and we donate £100 for every house sold in the region to the charity.
