Junior football club scores support from Redrow

A junior football team has kicked off the new season in style in some brand new football kits sponsored by Redrow Homes.

Groves Junior Football Club, based at the Groves Sports and Social club on Whitby Road in Ellesmere Port, recently purchased the kits thanks to a generous donation of £500 from the housebuilder.

The club has teams from the ages of six to 16 and all the players are from within the local community.

For the 2012/2013 season, Redrow Homes has kindly sponsored the Groves ‘under 11s’ team who play in the Chester and District Junior Football League.

Anita Williams, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), said: “Redrow is proud to sponsor the Groves Junior Football Club for their new season. The club is a very important part of the local community, providing training, entertainment and experience for the team members, coaches and volunteers.

“The donation will ensure that members of the team are looking their best in the brand new kits and are ready to score plenty of goals!”

Parent Robert York said: “A huge thank you to Redrow Homes from all the parents and coaches at the Groves JFC. Without their sponsorship the players would not benefit from feeling part of a united team as they do now all the players look fantastic and very professional in their new kit.”

A spokesman for Groves JFC Committee Members added: “A very big thank you to Redrow Homes for supporting the Groves under 11s from everyone at the club. This sponsorship deal will go a long way in helping the club build a better community.”

Parent Francis Kwateng said: This group of boys have become an excellent team as a result of the great effort put in by the coaching staff and the support of the parents. The sponsorship and continued support of Redrow Homes will only enhance the team’s ability and future success.”

The team is now in its sixth season together. They train two nights a week with a league game at the weekend, usually on a Sunday.

Francis added: “The parents support has been fantastic over the years with fund raising activities which have helped the team develop further by being able to take part in prestigious tournaments such as The Welsh Super Cup held at Aberystwyth and also The Glasgow Easter Cup. These tournaments not only develop their football skills but also help them develop their social skills and bring them together with people from different communities and backgrounds.

“All of the coaches are volunteers. The club supports their needs and we hope in the near future we can hold coach education sessions where the coaches can come together once a week and develop further as coaches and reach their potential.

“We are also looking to take the club into local schools and colleges where we can organise structured age appropriate sessions and the children can enjoy their football in a safe environment.”

Redrow Homes strives to get involved in the communities in which it builds. The award-winning housebuilder has two nearby developments; Dibbin Brook, in Brombrough, Wirral, and Crown Park, in Chester. For more information visit www.redrow.co.uk.
