Redrow Homes has been raising money across all of its divisions in a ‘charity challenge’ to mark its 40th anniversary celebrations.
A series of events have been held throughout the year by employees of Redrow Homes (Lancashire) at Buckshaw Village choosing their local children’s hospice, Derian House in Chorley, to receive funds raised at a charity ball held earlier in the year at the Reebok Stadium and raised a whopping £20,034.49.
The money was collected through ticket sales, an auction and a raffle, and now a special presentation has been made at Derian House to hand over the much needed funds.
The hospice currently supports more than 250 families across Lancashire who have a child with a life shortening illness and a further 150 who are receiving bereavement support.
Susie Poppitt, head of fundraising for Derian House said: “It’s been a tremendous effort by the Redrow Lancashire team, I’m amazed by their generosity. The money will be put to great use as it will go towards our ‘Derian at Home’ facility which involves a dedicated team who are on call for families who need support at home.
“The on-call service is all about allowing people to care for their children with life shortening illnesses at home and, having Redrow involved, has shown that they are keen to build family homes beyond just bricks and mortar.”
The charity challenge harnessed the enthusiasm and support of Redrow employees throughout the year.
Steve Greenhalgh, managing director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), added: “Derian House provides a much needed service in the local community. It relies very much on the support of businesses and individuals and it was an easy decision to make them one of our nominated charities for the 40th anniversary charity challenge. The Redrow team has been fantastic all-year round and staff, sub-contractors and suppliers have really thrown themselves into raising money for Derian House and other good causes.”
