Family Friends offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children. The money donated by The Redrow Foundation will be used to fund a day trip for families and a play day for children, as well as vital equipment for the play scheme venue and offices in Rhosddu.
The charity offers a unique service, recruiting and training volunteers who then visit families with young children and offer friendly and confidential support.
Offering help to more than 60 families a year, the services cost £80,000 to run and just four month's funding is provided by the Government. The rest of the running costs are met by fundraising and donations.
Jane Robertson, senior coordinator at Family Friends, said: “We are most grateful for the generous donation from the Redrow Foundation, which will give us the opportunity to enhance our support to Wrexham families who are suffering from stress.”
Redrow’s research and sustainability manager Jonathan Moss, who is based at the company’s headquarters in Ewloe, Flintshire, nominated Family Friends for a donation. He visited the charity to find out how the money will be spent.
Jonathan said: “Family Friends does tremendous work in the local community and requires ongoing support from local businesses to continue to assist families in need. It was an honour to visit the charity and see just how far the fund will go.”
