Children learned an important lesson in staying safe when Redrow’s health and safety mascot Buster Bear visited a Merseyside school.
Buster Bear was joined at Malvern Primary School in Willoughby Road, Huyton, by Redrow’s health and safety manager David Ford.
David explained: “Malvern Primary School is only a short journey away from our Summerhill Park development in Thingwall Lane and as construction work will be ongoing for some years to come we felt it was important to visit the local school to tell children about the importance of health and safety issues surrounding building sites. Construction sites may look fun, but they aren’t playgrounds and can be dangerous. If a child goes onto a building site what may seem like harmless fun could lead to a terrible accident causing serious injury or worse.”
During the visit, children were taught about the hazards on a building site. They were also told why it’s vital for staff and visitors to site to wear health and safety equipment and the children were able to try on items such as high visibility jackets and hard hats.
Head teacher Julie Peach commented: “We’re grateful to Redrow for giving children such an important lesson to help them stay safe. Buster Bear helped to make the lesson fun and the children really enjoyed meeting him.”
Summerhill Park will eventually comprise more than 500 homes.
The current phase of the development, known as The Avenue at Summerhill Park, offers a choice of three and four-bedroom homes from the New Heritage Collection with prices from £199,995.
