Keen tennis players are hoping for a smashing success after securing new equipment courtesy of Redrow.
The housebuilder has donated £500 to Hartford Tennis Club on Chester Road which is being used to its advantage to buy new rackets, balls and nets.
The donation forms part of Redrow’s Hartford community initiative that the housebuilder set up earlier in the year. The tennis club’s money follows on from donations to the village’s bowls club and two U9s girls’ football teams. More projects in the area are also being funded.
Project manager for the club, John Melluish said: “We’re extremely grateful to Redrow for the money, it ensures that our players of all ages can keep playing with good equipment. We’re a friendly club which provides lots of opportunities to play fun tournaments throughout the year.
“We’ve just enjoyed our best competitive season ever with three of our men’s teams and three of our women’s teams doing particularly well in their respective top divisions within the South and Mid Cheshire League. Our summer camps this year were also very popular. We welcomed many new youngsters and were able to introduce the sport to them.”
The club has more than 400 members, made up of adults and juniors, and boasts six astro-turf floodlit courts, two hard courts and two tennis coaches, one of whom is also a personal trainer who runs a boot camp at the club.
Jason Newton, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), said: “We’re particularly proud of all the work we’re doing in Hartford and helping out the local tennis club was a real privilege as it serves so many people within the community.”
Redrow is building a wide range of ‘ace’ homes at three developments in Hartford: Hartford Grange, Weaver Park and Hunter’s Chase.
Externally, the new Redrow homes give a nod to the past with many period-style architectural features. Internally they are completely on the ball, with bright, modern features designed for ease of living. There are stylish, fully equipped open plan kitchens and dining rooms, en-suite bathrooms and utility rooms.
