CHILDREN from Longton Primary School learned how to play safe in the summer holidays when Redrow’s health and safety mascot paid them a visit.
Buster Bear was joined at the school by Redrow’s health and safety manager Charlotte Weston
Charlotte explained: “We appreciate that building sites look fun and that perhaps through a child’s eyes scaffolding may look like an over-sized climbing frame. But building sites aren’t playgrounds. They can be very dangerous and we wanted to ensure children who live near our Longton development Foxlow Manor understand this and that they play safe and away from development sites. With the help of Buster Bear we explained the health and safety issues surrounding construction sites. Hopefully it’s a lesson that will keep them safe not just this summer but in years to come too.”
During the visit, children were taught about the hazards on a building site. They were also told why it’s vital for staff and visitors to site to wear health and safety equipment and the children were able to try on items such as high visibility jackets and hard hats.
Head teacher Julie Brown commented: “The new Redrow homes are just a short distance away from our school and the children have been watching with great interest since work began. We’re grateful to Redrow for giving the children such an important lesson in a fun way. They loved meeting Buster Bear.
Redrow’s contractors and suppliers have been playing their part in keeping the children safe by being mindful of school hours and when children arrive and leave school.
It’s safe to say that Redrow homes at Foxlow Manor will appeal to buyers. The development offers a good choice four and five-bedroom properties that combine traditional exteriors with bright, modern interiors.
