Woodford Groups Flourish Thanks to Redrow Funding

As the new homes and green spaces emerge at Redrow’s Woodford Garden Village, the flagship development is flourishing – and so too are community groups and clubs who are benefitting from Redrow’s community fund.

The leading house builder has pledged support to nine local groups and projects after inviting people to submit requests for funding help when the new garden village launched last summer.

With donations of just over £6,000 now pledged towards groups and organisations close by, Redrow is keen to ensure lasting relationships with the whole community around Woodford Garden Village too.

The beneficiaries of the Woodford Community Fund and how they intend to spend the funds are:

• 1st Woodford Scouts - donation towards refurbishment of Scout Hut and provision of high vis vests
• All Hallows Church – donation towards refurbishments
• Hursthead Infant School – funding towards a new garden in the school grounds
• Woodford War Memorial and Community Centre – donation towards refurbishments at the centre
• Manchester Rugby Club – funding for new kits and sponsorship of the mini junior rugby festival.
• Bramhall and Woodford Rotary Club – sponsorship towards the Scarecrow Festival
• Lostock Rangers Football Club - kit and match day pitch sponsorship
• Friends of Lumb Lane Park – funding towards regeneration of Lumb Lane Park and play equipment
• Poynton Horticultural Show – event sponsorship.

Jason Newton, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), says: “Woodford Garden Village is one of the largest new communities to be built in the North West for some time. We’re building high quality new homes along with all the amenities of a village, such as green spaces, a new school and opportunities for sport and recreation - and in doing so, helping to create that sense of community that people want to be a part of.

“There is a fantastic close-knit community in Woodford and the surrounding villages, and we want to build relationships with the groups and clubs who are part of the fabric of the community here. It creates a better place for everyone and we can’t wait to see the impact that the donations will have.”

Among those given a boost is 1st Woodford Scout Group, which was presented with £500 towards the refurbishment of the scout hut as well as high visibility vests.

Scout leader Alan Stokoe says: “We’re really grateful for Redrow’s financial help and the vest donation. Our headquarters is just 400m from Redrow’s new development and has needed a bit of a spruce up for some time.

“The money will be put to fantastic use at the scout hut as we need everything from a new roof to additional storage. And the vests will be a real boon so we can ensure that our youngsters stay safe.”

Based at the historic former aerodrome at Woodford, phase one of the landmark development is now well underway and will include 145 high quality homes in a range of designs from two to five-bedrooms.

Woodford Garden Village is the first garden village of its kind in the region for decades and one that will provide a lifestyle unlike any other. It will eventually feature around 950 new homes and a host of brand new amenities. Sensitive to its idyllic rural location, the development will feature significant amounts of open spaces including traditional village greens.

Visitors can take a look around a show village of seven show homes to get a feel for the lifestyle on offer. The development features Redrow’s award-winning Heritage Collection which combines Arts and Crafts-style exteriors with high specification contemporary interiors. Prices currently start at £466,995 for a four-bedroom Oxford property rising to £979,995 for the stunning five-bedroom Highgrove.
