One of our construction managers has received a prestigious National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Award for his work in the Thames Valley region.
Jason Thacker received the award for excellence in on-site management at The Lawns, on Kennington Road.
In existence for 40 years, the NHBC’s Pride in the Job scheme is dedicated to recognising the industry’s very best performers and is a prestigious accolade that site managers aspire to achieve.
To receive an award, site managers must score highly in all areas of build and site management including quality of workmanship, technical expertise, health and safety and leadership. Judges look for meticulous attention to detail and the special qualities and attributes that set quality, award-winning site managers apart from the rest.
Jason, who became interested in the property industry following a carpentry apprenticeship, has 32 years of experience in the sector. He has worked with us since 2019, as a site manager before working his way up in just two short years to acting area construction manager.
Sarah Boyce, Sales Director for the Thames Valley division, said: “Jason’s passion and determination is reflected in every home built at The Lawns, and we’re thrilled that his hard work has been recognised by the NHBC.
“The Pride in the Job Award is something all site managers want to win, and to receive this award after only three years is a wonderful achievement and thoroughly deserved – well done Jason! Let’s hope it’s the first of many for Thames Valley!”
Commenting on his award win, Jason said: “Winning this award is a fantastic achievement. Site management is hard work, but we produce homes built to an award-winning standard – and that is incredibly satisfying.
“There’s nothing quite like the feeling of a job well done every time we hand over a home which surpasses the customer’s expectations. This isn’t just an individual award to me; it’s a true testament to the whole team’s hard work and dedication. I’d like to thank them all for their continued support over the past two years.”
We have one of the industry’s best records for training and developing our staff, and as a member and patron of ‘The 5% Club’, we’re committed to ensuring at least five per cent of our work force is made up of apprentices, graduates or sponsored students. Yet in practice, we already go far beyond this as 15 per cent of the total workforce are trainees.
