There is an excellent selection of restaurants in Maidstone town centre, all within a short walk or taxi ride of The Mill. Trip Advisor lists no less than 233 places to eat, with Frederic Café Bistro, Mu Mu Restaurant, Gem of Kent and the Mediterranean flavours of La Taberna all highly recommended. Kits Coty Brasserie, The Town House, The Romney Restaurant and Bills are also popular.

You’ll be spoiled for choice with the excellent range of schools on offer in Maidstone, with a number of ‘good’ rated primary schools and ‘outstanding’ rated schools for older pupils. Nearby Brunswick House Primary received a mostly ‘good’ rating from Ofsted, while St Paul’s Infants was ‘good’ across the board. Northborough Juniors caters for years 3-6 and is also ‘good’ rated, as is Palace Wood Primary. All are within easy reach of the development.

Maidstone operates a selective education system, with both grammar and non-selective schools achieving the highest Ofsted rating. Much of Maidstone’s leisure revolves around Mote Park, where you’ll find the local leisure centre as well as indoor bowls, cricket and squash clubs, plus a popular boating lake. Maidstone enjoys excellent commuter connections, with the M2 and M20 both just a few minutes drive away and the M25 just beyond. A number of major trunk roads also pass through the town, including the A20 and A26. London is 40 miles, Tunbridge Wells is 18 miles, Ashford is 22 miles and Canterbury is 28 miles.

Maidstone has two main stations, with trains from Maidstone East reaching London Victoria in just over an hour and Ashford in half an hour. Maidstone West has trains to St Pancras via Strood in around an hour. You can connect to Eurostar trains at Ashford International, linking direct to Paris and Brussels. Gatwick and London City Airport, and the continental ferries of Dover, are all less than an hour’s drive.
