Tiles
Sealant
Your tiling is usually sealed with mastic to ensure a clean finish.
If you are unhappy with the appearance / finish of the mastic, this should have been raised during your Home Preview or at your Courtesy Check if it was visible when standing 2m from the area in natural daylight.
Over time the sealant may lift and can be replaced as part of your home owner maintenance.
Grout
Your tiles have been grouted as part of their fitting.
The colour of the grout should be consistent throughout when viewed while standing 2m away in natural daylight. Grout can stain so we recommend that you use a grout sealant shortly after moving in and regularly clean the floor using the appropriate products.
Steam cleaners can also cause problems with your grout so we do not recommend using them.
If you notice that your grout is crumbling or cracking, let us know so that we can inspect this.
Hollow sound
Tiles are laid on concrete floors so can sometimes sounds 'hollow'.
This is normal and nothing to worry about; it is not classed as a defect.
Cracked
Tiles are made of a very porous material and if something heavy is dropped on them it is likely that they will crack.
You should have had the opportunity to inspect the flooring prior to legal completion during your Home Preview. Any issues should have been raised during your Home Preview or Courtesy Check.
If tiles have cracked naturally then we will need to look into this further; contact us and ideally send photographs for us to review.
Out of level
As your home has been hand-built, not factory-finished like a car, there will always be slight variances.
However, if your floors are over 4mm out of level per meter of floor we will need to look into this.
We appreciate that this may be hard to tell so if you have concerns about your floor then let us know as soon as possible.
