The Green Apple Environment Awards recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world. We scooped two of the awards last year for its efforts to reduce waste across its operations, including being named ‘Champion of Champions’.
The awards scheme was the first to be accredited as an official feeder scheme into the European Business Awards for the Environment and it is now the only official feeder scheme into the Green World Awards, which are held in a different country every year.
The Flintshire based developer was presented with the Green Apple trophy during a ceremony that was held at The Houses of Parliament. Initial trials of ASHPs by us showed how this technology can reduce energy usage for future Redrow homeowners. It found ASHPs consumed much less energy, operating at an efficiency of around 2-3 times that of an A-rated gas boiler.
Garry Cornell, sustainability director at Redrow, said: “Winning this Green Apple award is a huge achievement for Redrow. We have started working towards net zero carbon emissions and the step to introduce ASHPs in all future developments will help us towards this target. Our Eco Electric homes are zero carbon ready and the benefits to our customers of buying our future-ready homes, with underfloor heating in detached designs as standard, are huge.
“It was an honour to attend the event at The Houses of Parliament and the recognition will spur us on to keep going with our research and drive to become an ever more sustainable business.”
