The Alpha Omega WPS Foundation aims to involve, educate, and assist women to achieve an all-round safety, for themselves and their community.
The donation was one of four community grants given to groups, charities or other good causes serving the area around our Kingsbourne development in Nantwich.
This community funding will go towards creating an inclusive and diverse cooking club for 33 British and BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic) women, who may struggle with isolation, mental health problems and face challenges because of the cost-of-living crisis.
“Our foundation wants to provide an inclusive, safe space where women can come together to cook, destress and minimise their isolation,” said Amaka Lawton, CEO and founder of The Alpha-Omega WPS Foundation.
“Our sessions will give them an opportunity to connect, socialise, increase their exposure to English and have some culturally appropriate food to take back home. We’re grateful to Redrow for providing this funding to help us start up.”
Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director for our North West division, said: “The team at Alpha-Omega WPS Foundation take on an active role in the community, supporting women in a range of different ways. Our community funds were set up to support great work such as this taking place within our neighbourhoods. We are very happy to be able to provide financial help towards these cookery sessions.”
The community grants are in addition to our contributions outlined as part of the planning consent’s section 106 agreements, which total around £2.75million. This includes money for local primary education, highways improvements and public realm plus provision for Acton Village.
Work is currently underway on the final phase at Kingsbourne. Started in 2018, Kingsbourne will feature 324 new homes in total and has been a popular destination for house hunters. The wider development will see over 1,000 properties built by a consortium of developers.
The open space, play areas, multi-use games area, new road and major infrastructure, alongside proposed commercial elements of the development, are all part of the consortium works. Within the masterplan for Kingsbourne, there is also an allocation for a new school site and a new community / commercial hub, which will potentially include new shops and services, subject to planning.
