A Woodford couple looking to downsize are now “new build converts” after falling for the character and layout of their brand new apartment.

Moving out of their 1930s detached property, Honor and Mike are now the proud new owners of a two-bedroom luxury apartment located at The Courtyard in Woodford Garden Village.

“We didn’t specifically set out to buy a new build, in fact, we initially thought we wanted an older property. However, everything we looked at would have required considerable reconfiguration and other upgrades to achieve a standard we’d have been satisfied with,” said Honor.

“It would also have been very costly to undertake a renovation project, so it made sense both financially, and to reduce stress, to move into a ready-made property.

“Even though we’ve only been living in a new build for a short while, we know it’s been the right choice for us.”

The couple’s previous home, less than a quarter of a mile away from Woodford Garden Village, sold shortly after going on the market, so they had to act fast.

“Our daughter and her family already lived on Woodford Garden Village, and we knew they were very happy here,” said Honor.

“Their positive experience with Redrow encouraged us to purchase here and we’re delighted with our beautiful, ideally located apartment.”

Not only was Mike, a design engineer who previously worked at Woodford Aerodrome, converted to a new build, he also had his mind changed on apartment-living after a ‘quick peak’ at the show apartment.

“He felt straight away he would be happy living here,” said Honor.

“The large, bright and spacious rooms have made the transition very easy, as we were used to a lot of space in our previous home, and we didn’t want to compromise on the space or room sizes when we downsized.”

Apartments at The Courtyard vary in size between 947 sq ft and 1,060 sq ft – making the floor space equivalent to some houses. They also come with a private garage and a gated entrance for extra security.

“We are looking forward to warmer weather where we can open the patio doors onto our balcony.”

And what a view they have, Woodford Garden Village is peppered with open spaces, including a village green, which is one of 19 separate areas of play, parks or public open space planned or already in existence. The development also includes cycle pathways, meadows and extensive tree planting.

“We can’t compliment Redrow enough, from the sales team to the builders, and the aftercare, all excellent,” added Honor.

“We were supported throughout the process and the support doesn’t stop when you’ve purchased the property either, the team are just as approachable now as they were from the beginning.”
