Woodford Community Council were awarded £1,200 by us to organise a Winter festival.
Held on site at our Woodford Garden Village, the money was used towards a Christmas tree and lights plus entertainment in the form of Santa and a facepainter and helped secure local businesses and community organisations including several businesses owned and ran by residents from Woodford Garden Village.
Woodford Community Council member, Peter Crossen said: “The aim of the Winter festival was to build a community event for all of Woodford, both old and new, to come together. Many of those who attended said it was a great chance for them to meet their neighbours in person and mingle and have fun together. The event was a success and we now hope to hold this each year.”
The event also raised money for Bramhall and Woodford Rotary Club with donations totalling several hundred pounds which will go towards local causes such as local food banks.
Emily Carey, area sales manager at Redrow NW, said: “Our community funds are designed to bring the community together so the Winter Festival was something we definitely wanted to help with. It was great that they also got local businesses involved and raised money for local charities too.”
Occupying the former Woodford Aerodrome site, Woodford Garden Village is situated in Cheshire, just on the southerly border of Greater Manchester, and offers a ready-made community with a host of amenities on the doorstep, including its own pub and a primary school, plus a wealth of green spaces and play areas, parks and meadow areas..
