Most of us aspire to find our dream home - and according to South Liverpool couple Charles and Letizia, they’ve found it “100%” at Allerton Gardens.
It might not be quite as grand as its royal namesake, but Charles and Letizia say their Sandringham home makes them feel like royalty.
“And if Redrow hadn’t already been presented with an award for it - Allerton Gardens won a prestigious UK Property Award - I would certainly give them one,” adds Charles, 69, a retired export sales manager.
“This is a premium development and it really looks the part, you can see why it’s an award winner. We would never move from here now, this is our forever home - it’s the best place to live in South Liverpool.”
Charles and Letizia, 65, a former maths teacher in a Liverpool high school, both retired five years ago and decided it was time to move from a similar sized home they’d had for 25 years in nearby Calderstones.
“We were happy where we were but felt it was time to look for another house, and as soon as we visited friends who’d bought a property at Allerton Gardens, we knew this was where we wanted to buy.
“We could see that the standards of workmanship and build were great, the styles of the houses were gorgeous, it’s central for everything, including my sports because I’m a member of Liverpool Cricket Club and play racquet ball most mornings, and it’s so open… it was everything we would ever want,” adds Charles.
The popularity of Allerton Gardens, which is actually two developments in one - Allerton Gardens offering larger three, four and five-bedroom executive homes from our Heritage Collection and The Groves featuring equally desirable three and four-bedroom properties - meant that Charles and Letizia couldn’t get their dream home straight away, but a chance call earlier last year revealed the Sandringham home had become available.
“It was as if it was fate. It had our name on it,” says Charles.
The Sandringham is a commanding and generously-sized five bedroom home, finished to the highest quality, and boasting style and space in abundance. The open plan kitchen/dining/family room spanning the rear of the property helps to create a family home with warmth, while a separate lounge, study and dining room enhance the practicality of the house.
All five bedrooms are doubles, and the main suite enjoys the added luxuries of an en-suite and a walk-in wardrobe. A second en-suite and a large family bathroom complete the upstairs, and additional features of this home include a utility room and integral garage.
“It’s a large house for two people, but it is great for us and allows us to live life exactly as we want to,” explains Charles. “The family room is where we tend to live most of the time, and where we entertain if we have a few friends to dinner.
“But if we have more people over, then it’s nice to be able to use the more formal dining room. It’s good to have the choice.
“We are used to the space of a five-bedroom home and, with lots of friends and family in London, it means they can come and stay, and we can accommodate them comfortably. The extra en-suite is very functional - it’s ideal for us.”
Charles adds: “We did look at other houses outside the area when we were looking for a new property but many were older and I’m not a DIY guy, so it was great to know we could just move our stuff in and starting living right away, and have all the advantages of a new-build like low maintenance and energy economy.
“The help of Ann and Pauline in the sales team and Megan and John on site made it very easy for us, and took all the stress out of the move.
“Now, after playing squash or racquetball I love driving in through the gates, seeing the green open spaces and the Victorian lamp-posts. It’s a pleasure to come home and say ‘I live here’.”
Allerton Gardens is virtually sold out, but we’re busy planning the next sales release for The Groves, which will include a collection of four-bedroom homes like the Harrogate, Cambridge and Sunningdale.
Properties on the Woolton Road development are expected to start from around £530,000.
