Getting on the property ladder is no easy feat, especially for those working in and around London, so this first-time buyer got the best of both worlds by moving to Caddington.
After airline pilot Aakash, returned from Berlin, he knew he wanted to settle down and become a homeowner without compromising on space or commute time – he was able to do just that at Redrow South Midlands’ Caddington Woods, on Chaul End.
Aakash, who commutes to London Luton Airport five days a week, started home-hunting from his parents’ three-bedroom house in North London, initially looking at second-hand builds. Quickly, he realised how substantial the additional investment getting them up to spec would be, so he started researching new developments in commutable locations. After visiting a few, he stumbled upon Caddington Woods by accident, spotting a sign as he was driving through the area. He quickly fell in love with the development, from its location, which he thought had a ‘village feel’ to it, to the charm exuded by the our homes.
“When I drove into the development, I immediately loved what I saw”, Aakash said. “It has plenty of green spaces, which are all nicely landscaped, and I thought the homes had a lot of character. Most new builds I’d seen previously from other developers looked like ‘square boxes’, which wasn’t the case here.”
With his savings, accumulated over the past four years, and with the help of his parents, Aakash was able to put down a deposit for the four-bedroom detached Shaftesbury, which was worth £540,000 – roughly the equivalent of a three-bed flat in London currently. He was also able to benefit from our stamp-duty paid offer.
“When I started looking, it became obvious that I had to get out of London if I wanted to get more for my money. Here at Caddington Woods, I have a much bigger home, my commute is 30 minutes shorter than it was when I was living with my parents in North London, and I get to live in a beautiful, quiet location. I have four-double bedrooms, a fantastic garden as I picked a corner plot and spacious open-plan kitchen and lounge area, which I love – I like the idea of having company while I’m cooking.
“I love my new home, and would really encourage prospective first-time buyers to broaden their search and consider smaller towns and villages outside of London – it really is worth it.”
Located just three miles from Luton and Dunstable, Caddington Woods is set in a delightful rural location in the small hamlet of Chaul End, overlooking vast areas of open countryside. With direct trains to London, just 36 miles south, the development is perfectly placed for commuters, or those looking for a well-connected location. With a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes, as well as superfast broadband available, Caddington Woods is perfect for first-time buyers, families and right-sizers alike
