Two Gloucestershire-based Redrow site managers have received the Quality Award at the NHBC’s annual Pride in the Job Awards 2020.
Alvin Woodhouse, site manager at our Harwood Homes development in Stonehouse, and David Morse, site manager at Cheltenham-based Brizen View were awarded the prestigious accolade.
This year the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards is celebrating its 40th anniversary and saw 11,000 site managers competing for the first round Quality Award and this year’s 450 Quality Award winners were hand-picked for their excellent standards on site.
Alvin has worked for us for 12 years and started out as a forklift driver. In 2012 he was accepted onto the housebuilder’s Site Manager Training Scheme which led to his promotion to assistant site manager in 2013. Since then he has worked across multiple sites in the South West and his son, Ryan Woodhouse, joined him at Harwood Homes this year as assistant site manager.
When asked about the Quality Award win, Alvin said: “It is an honour to receive a Quality Award from NHBC. The hard work that goes into running a site has really paid off, especially given the climate that the construction industry found itself in over the past few months.
“I pride myself on running a tight ship at Harwood, providing the best quality houses to customers, and ensuring the safety of all who work here. My team are amazing, and we are thrilled to have been able to start work again in May and welcome potential homeowners back, in line with Redrow’s robust social distancing guidelines and safety measures.”
The region’s other winner, David Morse, has worked for us for seven and half years across sites located in various parts of the South West. David was promoted to site manager in January 2019 after showing skill in site management and upholding our building standards.
He commented: “This is my first award as a site manager, and it is fantastic to have received this particular recognition as it is one of the highest accolades you receive in the industry.
“It was a nice surprise to be told as we had been focusing on reopening Brizen View for potential homeowners to come and visit. The team here at Brizen View have worked so hard to make it a safe and comfortable environment for those who wish to visit.
“I would like to extend this achievement to everyone involved and thank them for all their hard work on site.”
Lee Hawker, managing director at our South West division, said: “A massive congratulations to both Alvin and David on their award wins, they both have shown exemplary skill in managing a site, having both risen to the challenge of closing down and reopening developments in line with new guidelines for customers and staff safety.”
“For Redrow, achieving award winning standards of construction endorses the quality of housing we are providing in rural communities all over the South West which are aimed at the family market.”
