Jade is our senior sales consultant in the South West area. She is an incredible employee who has worked with us for almost ten years. We met with Jade to discuss her role, past work experiences and fun memories in the South West office.
Hi Jade, can you tell us a little bit about your career before and whilst at Redrow South West?
“Before I started working for Redrow I worked at a foreign currency exchange at Bristol Airport. This is where I found my love for sales! I always liked the idea of working in the property industry but had never taken the first steps to actually do it. I was therefore absolutely over the moon when I was offered the job as a sales consultant on a temporary six-month maternity cover contract. Another nine years later and I am still here. I have received Sales Consultant of the Year for 2018 and in 2019 I was promoted to senior sales consultant.”
What does a typical day look like for you?
“A typical day for me starts by getting into work before the sales office opens. I make sure that the show homes are ready for visitors, check my emails, and prepare for any appointments that are booked in for the day. Recently my days have been very busy with multiple appointments and walk in visitors.
I oversee homes that are under construction. I meet with my site team once a week for a formal meeting but also talk regularly throughout the day to make sure that everything is running efficiently. At the end of the day, I try and tie up any loose ends, close the show homes, and head home to relax after another busy day!”
What is the secret for a great Redrow development?
“The secret to a great development is presentation – from start to finish! First impressions are so important; from the website and online adverts to signage leading to our developments.
Communication between team members is also crucial to a good development. We all need each other to be able to do our jobs well and to ultimately complete a beautiful development for our prospective buyers to build their lives in. “
How do you enjoy your time away from the office?
“When I am not in the office, I like to spend time with my husband, my family, friends and my little pug Oli. I love socialising and going to music events, hosting parties and dinners with friends. However, I also love cosy nights at home with my husband watching Coronation Street. He like teasing me for my choice of tv programme, but I think he secretly likes to keep up with what's going on the street too!”
Do you have any funny memories from your time working at Redrow?
“A few years ago, I was working at one of our developments in Bristol with my colleague. It was a lovely summer afternoon and we had therefore left the doors wide open. All of a sudden, we noticed that a huge toad had wandered straight through the front door and was in the middle of the sales office, just staring at us! It's safe to say, we did not handle the situation very well. We attempted to get the toad out of the building, but every time it moved, we couldn’t help screaming and running away. The site team heard us and came running in to the sales office to see if we were alright, only to find us hiding from a huge toad! We re-homed him at the bottom of the sales office garden amongst the flowers and trees.”
