If you have younger children, you can leave the car at home and walk to school at the top rated Barrow Primary, with Whalley CofE Primary and St James’ CofE Primary both rated ‘good’ as alternatives.

There is a small selection of local independent shops in Whalley, with a larger range available in nearby Clitheroe, including the Swan Courtyard shopping arcade. Clitheroe has held a market since 1200 and this is still a popular destination today, with over 40 stalls available every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and a farmers’ market every second Thursday of the month.
