Children cycling to a school in Knutsford now have a home for their bikes during lessons thanks to our donation.
We contributed more than £900 towards a bike shelter at Bexton Primary School via the Knutsford Community Fund.
Deputy head Jill Sach explained: “As a school we engage with a lot of positive eco-projects including litter picking, recycling and energy conservation, and we encourage children to walk, cycle or scoot to school. With Redrow’s help we’ve been able to install storage facilities so that more children can keep their bikes and scooters in a safe, dry space during the school day. We hope it will encourage more families to leave their cars at home, reducing traffic congestion and pollution around the school, while also benefitting children’s health and wellbeing.”
The school, which is just over a mile from our Tabley Park development, was one of 10 good causes to benefit from our voluntary £10,000 community fund.
Area sales manager Amanda Hollins said: “Health, well-being and sustainable transport, are high on Redrow’s agenda as part of our overall commitment to creating a better place to live. So it’s fantastic to see so many local children are travelling to and from school under their own steam rather than by car. Scooting or cycling is a great way to start the day and we were happy to be able to help provide the much-needed extra storage.”
Tabley Park will eventually feature 190 new homes, with everything from two to five bedrooms. More than just a housing development, this thriving community will also include a large area of open space, a football pitch, allotment areas, orchard and children’s play area.
