Knutsford GROW was among the good causes local to our Tabley Park development to share in a £10,000 voluntary community fund.
Essential gardening equipment including leaf suckers, weed burners, secateurs, long handed saws and tree saws were purchased by the charity using our donation. They will be used by volunteers to maintain gardens of people living within three miles of Tabley Park.
Neil Forbes, secretary and chairman of Knutsford GROW, explained: “We’ve been helping local frail and disabled residents who can’t afford commercial services maintain their gardens since 1999. Our service is provided by a mix of volunteers, both able bodied and those with disabilities ranging from leaning difficulties to mental health issues, as well as those recovering from life changing medical incidents. We provide a supportive environment to help volunteers achieve their goals, be it exercise, recovery, gaining confidence to enter or re-enter the world of work or simply increased self-worth by feeling good about helping others. With Redrow’s help we’ve been able to refresh our gardening tools and replace worn out equipment.”
Our community fund programme is part of its commitment to creating thriving communities and building responsibly.
Other local good causes to share in this latest funding include Knutsford Academy, Knutsford Community First Responder Trust, Knutsford Badminton Club, Bexton Primary School, Friends of the Moor, Knutsford Vikings Swimming Club
Knutsford Rugby Football Club, a community wildflower allotment and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Primary School.
Area sales manager Amanda Hollins said: “Through our community funds we’re able to get right to the heart of the neighbourhood where we’re building and gain a real insight into what makes them great places to live. Knutsford GROW is a fantastic charity helping match volunteers with people who need some assistance looking after their gardens. We were happy to be able to equip them with new tools to ensure gardens will look blooming lovely this summer and beyond.”
Tabley Park will eventually feature 190 new homes, with everything from two to five bedrooms. It will also include a large area of open space, a football pitch, allotment areas, orchard and children’s play area.
