In 2021, Brian and his wife were living in the beautiful, picturesque setting of Barrow in Furness in Cumbria, at the coastal edge of the Lake District, enjoying the stunning natural landscapes their home offered, but missing and longing to be closer to their immediate family.
The couple’s daughter, son in law and grandchild, with another expected any day, lived locally to the village of Winscombe, Somerset, and when Brian and his wife visited the Woodborough Grange development, in the Spring, they instantly fell in love.
“Travelling up and down the motorways had worn thin, and each 258-mile journey reminded us of the distance between us and those closest to our hearts,” said the couple.
“We decided enough was enough, and despite the beautiful setting we lived in, we were ready to swap the vistas of the Lake District for the equally beautiful Mendip hills and have our nearest and dearest just around the corner. The colours and stunning landscapes of the local area are also just lovely, it has everything we could want.”
Living through Covid restrictions also means that travelling up and down the country to visit isn’t always an option. Finding a home in stunning surroundings with nature close at hand, with a classic style but newly built with all the assurances that brings, felt like a perfect choice for the Wood family.
Brian says, “When we spotted a beautiful arts and crafts-inspired Oxford Lifestyle home at Woodborough Grange, with a lovely outlook and three large bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms for when family comes to visit - we didn’t miss a beat. We got our offer in straight away.
“Our purchase journey, including our sale was a good one. Fortunately, our home sold quickly, and we were able to move forward relatively speedily. The team at Redrow couldn’t have been more accommodating. We chose a lot of personalised options under the My Redrow scheme including an induction hob and internal door from the garage - and the site manager was brilliant.
“The on-site construction team made everything happen for us, and we felt very well looked after through every stage of the process. The whole team, from sales, construction and customer care were just a lovely group of individuals. We are delighted with our new home, lovely neighbours and community.”
The icing on the cake is having their two grandchildren just around the corner. Their granddaughter has been able to stay at Grandad and Nanny’s house, and they are enjoying the community of the development, as well as spending time in their beautiful new home with their family, which is closer than ever.
Area Sales Manager for the South West, Charlotte Newnes adds: “Set in the stunning surroundings of Somerset’s Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Winscombe is a delightful village full of traditional charm. Residents at Redrow’s award-winning Woodborough Grange development will be able to enjoy the traditional village life; everything from ancient fairs to an active community centre, from the gentle joys of village cricket to the friendly welcome in the local pub in this picturesque location.
“Brian and his family’s positive experience of the development and sales process is something we are extremely proud of, as we always go the extra mile to help prospective buyers get everything just the way they want it.”
