The Dog and Doublet, the Swan Hotel, the Market Vaults and The Green Man come highly recommended for their pub grub, while top restaurants include the European tastes of Pastiche Bistro, the Asian flavours of Spice Island, Simply Bilash and Navana and the popular Woodlands and Post House restaurants.

Stafford is a major education centre, with a large campus of Staffordshire University not far from the development, offering a wide range of media, computing and engineering courses.

For younger students, the immediate area around Church View has an excellent choice of schools, with St Annes Catholic Primary and Leasowes Primary both judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, and St Johns CofE Primary and St Leonards Primary both rated ‘good’. For older pupils, Weston Road Academy is close by and rated ‘good’, while Walton High School, Stafford Sports College and Blessed William Howard Catholic School offer equally ‘good’ alternatives.

The leisure choices in and around Stafford are endless, from the obvious, such as the three football clubs, two rugby clubs and countless golf courses, to the unusual, such as the local Riffle and Pistol Club, which has its own shooting range in town. There are also two sports centres at Stafford Leisure Centre and Beaconside at Staffordshire University.

Step back in time at Stafford Castle, home of a regular summer Shakespeare festival, visit the oldest timber framed building in England at the Ancient High House in the town centre, or take a walk around the Capability Brown gardens of Ingestre Hall. Plus, for a great day out, Alton Towers theme park is just 23 miles away.

For evening entertainment, check out the three-screen Apollo Cinema or the indie films of the Stafford Film Theatre at the Gatehouse Theatre, which is also home to the Met Studio comedy venue.

Stafford has a thriving shopping centre based around the Guildhall, which is also home to an extensive indoor market every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There are also two handy retail parks on the edge of town that can be accessed without going into the town centre. Queensville Retail Park and The Hough Retail Park have a host of big name stores, from B&Q to Argos and New Look.

For a bigger choice, the huge malls of Birmingham are just half an hour away by train, or you can treat yourself to a day in London with a ride time of under an hour and a half.

Trains from Stafford Station reach Crewe in just 20mins, Birmingham in 35mins, Liverpool in an hour and London, non-stop, in just 1hr 20mins.

By road, Stafford is minutes from the M6 and just 14miles from the main A50 east west trunk road. Wolverhampton is 16miles, Newcastle / Stoke are around 18miles, and Telford and Birmingham are both roughly 25miles. Birmingham Airport is just over 40miles and Manchester Airport around 55miles.
