Lancashire’s Claire Jarvis has been appointed as chair of the Home Builders Federation’s (HBF) North West Managing Director’s Group.
The role of the regional chair is to work with the HBF to advocate on behalf of the housebuilding industry across the region.
Claire has been managing director of our Lancashire division, based in Buckshaw Village, Chorley, for two years since switching from the role of Group sales director.
She said: “Representing the views of the North West housebuilding industry on a wider stage is vital if we are to ensure a prosperous future for the sector, with the ultimate aim of delivering high quality homes to meet high demand in the region.
“We face unique challenges in the North West, just as other parts of the country do, and ensuring those issues are acknowledged and recognised by Government, local authorities and other agencies is a key part of my role as chair. It’s a responsibility I am happy to hold.”
The regional chair can represent the HBF on occasions, such as requesting meetings with local authorities and other agencies.
Stewart Baseley, executive chairman of HBF, said: “Claire is a strong voice for positive action in the North West and it’s great to have her on board as our regional group chair. I have no doubt with her passion for the industry, she is the right person to represent the needs and views of her fellow housebuilders during her term as chair.”
Claire, 44, has been one of our rising stars since joining the business in 2012.
She was sales and marketing director for the Lancashire operation for seven years. In 2019 she was appointed to the newly created role of Group sales director, taking responsibility for our nationwide sales policies and procedures across 14 regional operations in England and Wales.
In 2020, she became managing director of Lancashire and is one of only a handful of female housing chiefs in the UK’s private housing sector.
The business Claire heads up is one of our largest operating divisions – directly employing around 150 people and delivering around 500 legal completions in the last financial year. The division is currently on site at 11 live outlets across Lancashire and parts of Greater Manchester and Merseyside, stretching as far south as the M56 corridor.
Claire, who lives in Altrincham with her husband John, is also proud to be part of our mentoring programme for women. The programme aims to provide inspiration and support to the next generation of aspiring women leaders within the business, and the wider housebuilding sector.
