Robert and Janet Anderson moved from a three-bedroom Worcester in Hartford to a stylish four-bedroom Shaftesbury at our Kingsbourne development in Nantwich.
“We looked at two other developers when we came here, but we wouldn’t have considered buying from anyone else,” says Robert, 66, who worked in the optical industry before retiring.
“Redrow stood out by a mile with the size of the rooms, the height of the ceilings and the quality of build.” “It was the different styles too,” said Janet, a former teacher who’s also 66.
“Rob had an accident last year and broke his hip, so the idea was that we can be on hand for my daughter and her family, and they can be on hand for us. We were always driving to one another’s homes, so we wanted to be together - but we’re far enough away to be independent.”
The couple chose the detached Shaftesbury because they loved the design, which boasts a kitchen, dining and living area extending along one side, with a separate lounge on the other. A cloakroom and utility complete the accommodation downstairs.
Upstairs there are four double bedrooms, the main with en-suite, and a family bathroom.
“We spent time adding our own finishing touches before we moved in in May,” said Janet.
“I am passionate about houses; we knew exactly what we wanted and had a clear idea of plans.”
The couple had a kitchen island installed to create more storage and workspace. But it was the upper floor that presented the “most wonderful” options for them.
“We installed wardrobes in the bedroom opposite ours, which we have transformed into a dressing room,” said Janet.
The second bedroom has been created into a study in which Janet, who offers private tuition, can teach, and there’s a sofa bed so it can also be used as a guest room. Bedroom three has become an upstairs lounge.
Having lived in several areas throughout their lives together, the couple are now content that this is where they’ll stay put, they adore the charming market town where it’s located.
“It’s a super, lovely town, everything is in walking distance, all the amenities, independent shops and the sports centre,” said Robert.
“One day we were walking into town and going past the museum when some gentlemen came out and said what ‘a fantastic town this is’, comparing it to a mini York! There’s certainly plenty of history.”
Robert and Janet say they’ve had a smooth and straight-forward buying experience each time they have moved into a brand-new Redrow home with helpful sales teams who’ve kept them up to date. But they won’t be testing them a third time.
“We love the town and our home, and the ease of living here, this is it,” added Janet.
Situated on the banks of the River Weaver, Nantwich is famous for the medieval timbered buildings dotted around the town and its atmospheric streets lined with boutiques, antiques dealers and contemporary craft shops.
Kingsbourne is home to a collection of three and four-bedroom properties, currently available from £310,000.
