Redrow launches new eco-friendly homes in deal alongside £1.5m funding commitment for local community

Redrow’s Greenways development in Kent will come complete with the most energy efficient homes.

We recently launched Greenways, its brand new, energy efficient development in Betteshanger, near Deal, Kent.

The first phase at the development is now available to reserve, and will comprise 19 three and four bedroom homes, with five bedroom properties coming in later phases. Each of the homes are eco-friendly and designed with low-carbon technology including air source heat pumps and underfloor heating across the ground floor. The development will also prioritise open spaces, preserve nature habitats and feature play on the way spaces to encourage residents to socialise.

To coincide with the first homes becoming available, we have announced it will be handing over close to £1.5m to Dover District Council as part of its commitment to supporting the local community in Deal.

These funds, part of the housebuilder’s s106 contributions, will be used to support local services, and build affordable homes.

A significant portion of our financial commitment will go towards funding education facilities for the community, including primary and secondary education and community learning. We will also be contributing toward health and social care services, including the NHS, and outdoor sports facilities, youth services and libraries.

Energy efficient living in Kent

Greenways is one of the many new developments in Kent to launch our new collection of Eco Electric homes.

Our Eco Electric homes come with air source heat pumps and underfloor heating to the ground floor as standard. Air source heat pumps are more efficient than gas boilers, as heat pumps capture heat that is already present in the environment and the system itself does not burn any fuel, therefore no carbon dioxide is emitted. The underfloor heating to the ground floor means that the large open plan spaces found in the Heritage Collection homes can be efficiently heated, without the need for radiators.

The development launch follows our recent research which revealed one in five (24%) homeowners in the South of England are now considering moving to a more energy efficient home to make savings on their bills. The research also showed that more than a third (37%) of people living in the South would prefer to move to a new build home due to their energy efficient features.

Canterbury is also reachable within an hour, whilst London is reachable in an hour and a half via regular train services. The iconic Kent coastline is right on the doorstep, including the world-famous White Cliffs of Dover and seaside towns, plus the Kent Downs National Landscape and an array of other attractions.

As with all our developments, Greenways offers a good selection of transport options nearby. It is located just three miles from Deal train station, offering multiple services each hour to London’s Charing

Cross station in just an hour and a half, plus Ramsgate, Margate and Folkstone. On the road, Dover, Folkstone, and Canterbury are all within easy reach, and the A2, M2, A20 and M20 provide access into London and beyond.

Prices start from £425,000 for the three bedroom Letchworth or £565,000 for the larger than average Oxford Lifestyle. For the four bedroom Marlow and four bedroom Shaftesbury properties, prices start from £535,000 and £625,000 respectively.
