Don Burley has been promoted from area construction manager to head of construction in our South Midlands division, based on Waterside Way, while NHBC Award winner and site manager Alan Cooke has been named as his successor.
After starting out as a brick layer 36 years ago, Loughborough local Don worked his way up in the industry, winning several NHBC Awards in the process, both as site manager and area manager. Throughout his career, which includes 26 years of management experience, Don has overseen a host of developments within the South Midlands area and is looking forward to continuing to develop the region’s provision of high-quality new homes. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Alan, who received his second NHBC award this year for his work as site manager at Leestone Park, in Leighton Buzzard, will take the role of South Midlands’ new area construction manager. Alan has worked for Redrow for 13 years, also working his way up the ranks after starting as a site operative.
Don Burley, head of construction in the South Midlands, said: “I always liked buildings things as a child, so it’s fair to say my appointment as head of construction has been a lifetime in the making!
“From starting out as a bricklayer to my first steps into management over twenty-five years ago, my journey within the industry has been incredible, and I’m thrilled to take on this new challenge. No matter what your role is in the housebuilding industry, there’s nothing like handing over the keys of a new home to a customer and seeing them happy in their new home. I’m looking forward to developing the region even further and ensuring the highest standards of constructions are maintained across the division so many more people get to experience this feeling.”
