EP 6 Homes for Wildlife & New Build Homes

18th June 2021

Is it a case of choosing between new-build homes and nature? Not according to The Wildlife Trusts. They joined us for the latest episode of The New Homes Podcast where they told us how to create places for wildlife to thrive.

When you’re looking for a new home, how high up your priority list are open green spaces and an instant connection with nature? If it’s at the top of your list, you wouldn't be alone. Having spent more time than ever in and around the home in the last 15 months, people are expecting more from the space around them.

New developments can be a positive force for nature.

Giving people what they want

Some people may think creating much needed new homes would come at the cost of nature gains but for Redrow and The Wildlife Trusts, that’s not the case. As Peter Dorans, corporate relations manager at The Wildlife Trusts puts it in the latest episode of The New Homes Podcast ‘New developments can be a positive force for nature’. The Wildlife Trusts worked closely with Redrow on our ‘Nature for People’ strategy which focuses on protecting and enhancing biodiversity on new developments.

Pete’s fellow guest on the podcast, Rose Sandell, group communities’ director at Redrow was full of praise for the support and hard work the Trusts had put into the strategy, which included having a member of The Wildlife Trusts team seconded to Redrow.
