Ben Goostrey, 30, from Congleton was given the coveted accolade as part of this year’s Pride in the Job Awards for his work leading the construction team at our Kingsbourne development in Nantwich.
Established by the National House Building Council (NHBC), the Pride in the Job Awards celebrate the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality.
Earlier this year, Ben won his first NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award, the first phase of the annual competition, and was one of just 141 site managers nationwide to receive a ‘Seal of Excellence’ award.
Pride in the Job, first launched over 40 years ago, is the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry. Judging for the awards is rigorous, with the current competition beginning in July last year.
Around 8,000 eligible site managers are assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.
Ben, who joined the construction industry in 2016, was only promoted to the position of site manager 12 months ago. Since then he’s been on a winning streak, winning Redrow’s internal awards for site manager of the year in the North West and also the company’s national health and safety award for his development – Kingsbourne in Nantwich.
“I was very pleased to have won an award in the first round and now to win a Seal of Excellence Award, it’s a big achievement and a very proud moment,” said Ben who joined Redrow as an assistant site manager in January 2020.
“It’s a real team effort and keeping a consistent team on site has helped to keep a high standard of build at every stage. Everyone has great pride in what they do and that shows in the finished product.”
Jason Newton, managing director for Redrow NW, said: “This is a well-deserved award given to the best site managers in the UK.
“Ben has achieved so much in such a short space of time as a site manager, he really is leading the way. I’m so pleased that his hard work, dedication and determination to achieve the highest quality standards has been deservedly recognised.
